Hollande and Rohani discuss Syrian crisis and Iranian nuclear program

Francois Hollande and Iranian President Hassan Rohani,  discussed Syrian crisis and the situation in Lebanon and Iranian nuclear program, in a first- time meeting since 2005 on the sidelines of the General Assembly of the United Nations in New York.

Holland stressed that the most important reasons for the meeting with Rohani is the need to achieve a quick settlement of the Iranian nuclear program, and achieving concrete steps to assure Iran concede of its nuclear weapons program.

Rohani refers that Iranian religious principles, prevent it from getting a nuclear weapon .At the same time he stressed the need  to recognize Iran's right of peacefully using  nuclear energy.

On the other hand, a senior official in the White House  said that U.S. administration proposed to the Iranian side to hold a meeting between presidents of the two countries on the sidelines of the General Assembly in New York, but this proposal was rejected, and that Tehran informed the Americans that organizating such a meeting is  "very difficult" at the moment.
