The United Nations said two U.N staff members detained in Syria have been released in the last few days, but 19 are still being held.

U.N spokesman "Martin Nesirky" said today that the United Nations is trying to secure the release of all U.N personnel "as soon as possible".

Nesirky said most of the detained U.N staff members are Syrians.

He would not disclose the nationality of the two staff members released or said who was holding any of the U.N personnel.
