Lebanon charged five Syrians Thursday with links to a terrorist group backed by the hardline Islamist al-Nusra Front.
Military Prosecutor "Saqr Saqr" accused the men of membership in al-Nusra Front-backed terrorist organization "with the purpose of carrying out terrorist acts and damage the Lebanese state prestige".
The suspects could face the death penalty if charged.
They were referred to Military Investigative Judge "Riad Abu Ghayda" for further interrogation.
A source in the Lebanese army said the arrests were made by Lebanese Army Intelligence Wednesday, but didn't say where they were made.
