Two Syrian activists said that the government is negotiating with militants to secure the release of 13 nuns abducted by opposition fighters.

A spokesman "al-Habib al-Moustafa" said that " fighters want the Syrian government to release hundreds of imprisoned female activists in exchange for the 13 abducted nuns ".

The negotiations were also confirmed by a prominent Syrian opposition activist who requested anonymity, saying "negotiations began immediately after the Greek Orthodox nuns were seized from their monstary of Mar Takla north of Damascus on 6th Dec after the opposition militants overran the area.
