Russian Foreign Ministry issued a statement about the desire of the representatives of the Syrian opposition to conduct an informal meetings in Moscow within the framework of preparations for the International Conference about Syria "Geneva 2".
After a series of meetings held in Geneva on Wednesday by Deputy Russian Foreign Minister , Special Envoy of the Russian President to the Middle East Mikhail Bogdanov with the President of the abroad national coordination Committee Haytham Manna , head of the the Syrian Democratic Coalition Randa Kesis and head of the Kurdish Union Party Saleh Musalam and Rifaat Assad President of the Democratic united Rally.
The statement pointed out that the meetings witnessed exchange of views on the situation in Syria and focused on the preparation for the International Conference " Geneva-2 " in accordance with the Russian-American Initiative. All stressed the need to speed up the political settlement of the crisis through Syrian comprehensive dialogue without any preconditions, with a participation from representatives of the Syrian government and the main parties in the opposition , in addition to ethnic groups and sects.
The statement noted that the Syrian opposition praised the Russian efforts to fully apply Geneva Declaration and that they " accept positively the Russian offer to hold informal contacts in Moscow between the entire spectrum of Syrian political and social forces" , expressing their interest to participate in this meetings .
