Walid Al-Moallem Syrian Foreign Minister with Lakhdar Brahimi the Special Representative of the U.S Secretary General , discussed efforts to hold the international conference in Geneva.
Minister Al - Moallem stressed that Syria will participate in this conference from the exclusive right of the Syrian people to decide their own political future and choose their leadership , rejecting any form of foreign intervention, noting that the dialogue in Geneva will be between the Syrians and will be led by Syria .
He stressed his rejection of all statements issued under various names , including London statement on the future of Syria , saying it's a transgression on the right of the Syrian people and an anticipation of the results of dialogue which haven't begun yet between the Syrians.
For his part, Brahimi explained the results of his tour in the region and his efforts to hold "Geneva2" conference, saying he came to Damascus to prepare for Geneva conference , which will focus on dialogue between the Syrian parties and that the Syrians alone determine the future of Syria.
Brahimi denied earlier reports by some Arab newspapers about a foreign transition in new Syria , considering that " President Bashar Al-Assad could contribute to the transition without leading it" , saying in a press statement following a meeting with a number Syrian opposition in Sheraton Hotel in Damascus that what was attributed to him " not accurate at all."
