U.S Secretary of State John Kerry announced that the Syrian opposition did not say that it conditioned  the departure of Syrian President Bashar Al-Assad before starting  the negotiations, saying that Assad, however, has the legitimacy to rule Syria, calling on the opposition to resolve the issue of its participation in the Geneva 2 during the week, pointing out that Geneva negotiations may take a long time.

Kerry also warned that the continuation of the conflict in Syria will lead to increase the influence of extremist groups,  saying  "it's not responsible for all of us to allow this chaos  to continue in Syria, adding that " we must act in accordance with a specific time frame to format  a transitional authority to rule in Syria".
