Russian Foreign Ministry said that Russia and in order to resolve peacefully the Syrian conflict voted in favor of a resolution in Security Council putting e Syrian chemical weapons under international supervision.
The Russian Foreign Ministry statement indicates that the decision is based on the Russian - American agreement reached in Geneva and takes into account Syrian government's decision to join the Treaty for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons.
The resolution emphasizes the role of the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons, and sets the general framework for coordination according to United Nations, it also includes a material, demanding Syrian government and all opposition groups to fully cooperate with the inspectors of non-proliferation chemical weapons and United Nations, and secure entry to all storage places of chemical weapons and to meet all the workers in this area.
Russia emphasizes the need to convene an international conference "Geneva 2" on Syria as quickly as possible, and to provide necessary organizational ,technical , financial aid to Syria during a short period of time, focusing on the achievement of specific steps and not to politicize any decision regarding the practical issues.
Russia said in a statement that it is ready to contribute to the implementation of the agreements reached at Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons and United Nations.
