Patriarch John X Yazigi calls for achieving peace through dialogue not war

Patriarch John X Yazigi Patriarch of Antioch and All the East for the Greek Orthodox met with Pope Francis in Vatican city, conveying to him the suffering of the Syrian people  and their pain particularly  the Christians, and  the difficulties they faces in Syria and the Levant, pointing out that "peace in Syria can be achieved through dialogue not war."

Pope and Antioch Patriarch discussed the issue of two archbishops  kidnapped  in Aleppo and agree to move forward in achieving the unity of Christians.

Patriarch John  in an interview with Vatican radio explained that he cleared to  Pope the sorrows  of Christians in Lebanon, Syria and the Levant, calling to find solutions and peace-building through dialogue, not war.

Patriarch Yazigi said "The Day of Prayer and Fasting for Syria, which Pope called for was very important and  all Syrians pray for peace in Syria , Middle  East and the world,  and all countries and governments are invited to find a diplomatic and peaceful solution to this crisis."

It is noteworthy  that patriarch Yazigi will attend Sunday Mass in St. Peter's Square and meet Italian minister of Foreign Affairs and participate Saint "Ejido"  conference for dialogue between religions, which will open during the weekend.
